Trainer Deborah Nelson

Deborah Nelson grew up in the Seattle, WA area where she rode horses with her Godfather and at the age of twelve helped him break out a string of Welsh ponies for a local camp.  Deborah showed her half Arabian as a teenager at the local horse shows.
In her adult years Deborah trained for a quarter horse ranch and then managed the Willis Thoroughbred Ranch in Central California  training and showing Sport Horses.  Her great love has always been the Arabian Horse which she has been professionally showing and training  since 1987.
Today Deborah lives in the Seattle area with her family where she has operated Morning Star Farm since 1990.

Assistant Instructor Melissa Secord

Melissa Secord has known Deborah for 15 years and has been working for her for 6 years.  She first met Deborah as a child while living with her grandmother.  She saw that the new neighbors had a horse trailer and knew they were people she wanted to get to know.  She and Deborah worked out a deal of babysitting in trade for riding lessons, and so began Melissa’s riding career.

She has had the pleasure of experiencing horse ownership and competition in shows. She specializes in training younger children and enjoys watching them grow under her instruction. She finds it very exciting to see them enter into shows and move up to the next instructor.

Melissa is married to a loving husband, John and has a beautiful daughter, Samantha, who is now beginning to learn to ride.
